Philakade Care Centre

Kloof Rotary’s current projects are to raise funds to complete the building of a 100 bed care centre for destitute pensioners and those with disabilities. This development is known as the Philakade Care Centre. Other funds are earmarked for extending the facilities to cater for higher grades expected next year at the technical High school near Inchanga which is currently known as Obed Mlaba Technical High school. This school is one of the few facilities offering a technical education to that community and indeed most of the 1000 Hills area.

In previous years, funds from Festival in the Hills have been put towards projects that included the Gillitts Primary School, Obed Mlaba Technical High School, VEMA and Hillcrest Hospice. All funds raised by Rotary go directly to beneficiaries as all members are volunteers who give their time freely. The club welcomes prospective members to join them at their weekly Tuesday meetings, held at Kloof Country Club.
